At the BDO Meeting of 16th November it was a decision of the BDO Board to request support from the Counties for a proposal that will lift the 365 day suspension from all BDO events as imposed on any player that participates in the relevant PDC Q School qualifier
The 365 day ruling will be lifted from January 1st 2015 for all players of any code with the exception of the 128 players that hold a PDC Tour Card
As a result of this proposed ruling any player that goes to Q School in January and does not gain a Tour Card will be eligible to play in the PDC challenge tour PDC youth tour
These players may also enter any event organised by the BDO i.e. BDO Gold Cup/ Winmau World Masters / Lakeside and also all Opens organised by the BDO and its member Counties.
Hampshire already has this policy in place in that it promotes complete freedom of choice to all players as to with and against whom they wish to compete against in the Sport of Darts and we will never deny a place in our events to any player on the grounds of membership of another darts body
Hampshire have for many years taken the initiative in the campaign for unification and this is a massive step towards its fulfilment
Every Hampshire County Darts Organisation member should be rightfully proud for the unwavering stance they have taken over this issue of fairness and common sense
I do hope that other Counties support this proposal as at last it let’s the players control their own ambitions down whatever path it takes them
If any HCDO Member wishes to voice an opinion on the matter then comments will be most welcome
Since 2002 HCDO has been given an annual mandate from the membership to operate a freedom of choice policy and therefore the HCDO is totally and proudly committed to support this and any other proposal that seeks to endorse this mandate
